Research 38 Squadron history at National Archives of Australia.

      14 Aug 17 – Action Item initiated.
15 Jan 18 – Ongoing; refer to Action Item 17-18 for details from Air Force Historian, Martin James regarding unit history.

      FROM ACTION ITEM 17-18:
15 Jan 18 – The No 38 SQN unit histories and related files which can be made publicly accessible are held by the National Archives of Australia (www.naa.gov.au). I had a check of what was held by the NAA and shortlisted what would be relevant for you. Go to https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/ListingReports/ItemsListing.aspx to see those records. Some are already open for public access while other are still to be reviewed – this just means that the NAA staff will have to review and clear prior to giving you access. Most, if not all, these records should be available to you to host on the 38 SQN website, however you will need to clear this with the NAA when you order your copies. Anything which shows as being digitised can be freely downloaded direct as a pdf.
